If you avoid the marketplace sellers and stick to items “Sold by Amazon” you will should have no problems. No UK VAT is charged by Amazon UK on deliveries to Ireland, just Irish VAT instead. There is no VAT at all on orders under €22. Free delivery to Ireland on orders over £20.
Import duty only comes into play on some items in orders over €150 – and Amazon charges you that upfront so you definitely won’t be hit with extra charges at the door.

A lot , maybe all, of Currys online orders for Ireland seem to be delivered from the UK.
Since Brexit – we have heard about several orders from Currys being delivered along with a customs payment demand.
